Beidou SMS accelerates universal application, covering 450 million public users

As an important direction for the mass application of the Beidou system, Beidou SMS is accelerating its entry into millions of households. During this year's flood season, under the guidance and support of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Emergency Management and other competent departments, China Time and Space Information Group, together with three operators, opened the Beidou SMS function for 450 million public users in 17 provinces and cities including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Chongqing, Hubei, and Shandong, supporting over 40 million mobile terminals and building an emergency communication "life channel". Beidou SMS is a direct satellite communication service for mobile phones. When the ground communication network is unavailable, it relies on Beidou satellites to send and receive information and supports accompanying location information. Users can easily use the service without changing their card or number. During the flood season, this service is not available for use and is charged according to usage.
