On May 15th, the Pujiang Innovation Forum "Boundless Sky Computing • Bright Future" - a disruptive technology and future industry integration exchange event for space-based computing was successfully held in Shanghai. This forum is jointly organized by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Science and Technology, the Small and Medium sized Enterprise Development Promotion Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Representatives from more than 100 enterprises, research institutions, and investment institutions in the upstream and downstream of the industrial chain participated in the grand event. As a core enterprise in Shanghai's layout of the global space computing power track, Shanghai Oriental Computing Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Oriental Computing) deeply participated in this event and took the lead in promoting the release of multiple key industry achievements.

At the event, Dongfang Tianhua teamed up with Guangben Intelligent Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Guangben Technology") to jointly establish a space-based optical computing innovation center and launch the world's first joint research and development of space-based optical computing payloads. This marks the official entry of China's optical computing technology into a new stage of space engineering application, and also means that China has seized the first mover advantage in the disruptive field of space-based optical computing.

Deeply cultivating the cutting-edge field of space computing, creating a new paradigm of in orbit computing power upgrade through optical computing

Facing the typical application scenarios of large computing power and high energy efficiency, such as land, sea, air, and space all domain silicon-based intelligent agent services, in orbit AI model inference and training, and on-board large model operation, Dongfang Tianjiang innovates the space-based optical computing technology route and builds a new space computing system, with outstanding core advantages:

Excellent space environment adaptability: natural radiation resistance and electromagnetic interference resistance, able to stably adapt to complex and harsh space environments, improve long-term reliability in orbit, and reduce system design and protection costs.

High energy efficient AI computing power support: relying on the high bandwidth and high parallelism characteristics of light, it can efficiently support high computing power intensive in orbit intelligent tasks, with excellent computing power density and energy efficiency performance, meeting the core demand of lightweight platforms for strong computing power.

Ultimate energy efficiency and lightweight: With the advantages of low power consumption and low heat generation, it significantly reduces on-board energy consumption, eliminates the need for complex heat dissipation and heavy protection design, significantly improves the level of load lightweight, and expands the application boundary of space-based computing power in power sensitive scenarios.

Low latency collaborative networking capability: With low computing latency and fast response speed, it can deeply collaborate with inter satellite laser communication, achieve high-speed data exchange within and between satellites, support real-time control, edge intelligence, distributed space-based computing power networks, and trillion level silicon-based intelligent agents for in orbit collaborative services.

The establishment of the Space based Optical Computing Innovation Center has officially launched the development of the world's first optical computing satellite.

As a core enterprise in Shanghai's layout of the global space computing power track, the main builder and ecological leader of new space computing systems, Oriental Sky Computing focuses on technology research and development and achievement transformation in fields such as new space computing systems, new energy systems, new communication transmission systems, and new operation and maintenance networks. Light based technology focuses on the fields of photon computing and low-power high-performance computing, with independent optical computing chip architecture, computing power engine, and full stack system solutions. It is the core technical support for promoting the engineering implementation of space-based optical computing. Previously, the two sides had jointly carried out early space validation of optical computing chips, successfully verifying the feasibility of the collaborative work between satellite platforms and optical computing chips, laying a solid engineering foundation for disruptive technology space-based applications.

In addition, Oriental Sky Computing has launched the development of the world's first optical computing satellite in collaboration with partners, carrying out full process engineering work such as payload development, space anti radiation reinforcement, efficient thermal control, energy adaptation, and in orbit environment verification, and connecting the full chain capabilities of payload development, system integration, satellite assembly, and in orbit verification.

In the future, Oriental Sky Computing will continue to break through the technical difficulties of space-based optical computing through continuous in orbit verification and engineering iteration, improve the industrial ecosystem, accelerate the transformation of technological achievements and large-scale commercial landing, and provide strong support for cultivating new quality productivity, building a space power and a digital China.

Leading the establishment of the Yangtze River Delta Innovation Alliance to build a new space computing industry ecosystem

In addition to the Space based Optical Computing Innovation Center, Oriental Sky Computing, as the overall leading unit, has officially launched the preparation work for the Yangtze River Delta Space based Computing Innovation Consortium in collaboration with more than 20 industry university research units. The aim is to build an integrated collaborative innovation system for industry university research and application, guided by globalization, scenario based, and industrialization, to jointly research core technologies, establish industry standards, share application markets, and cultivate industrial ecosystems.

The consortium focuses on the new space computing system as its core direction, focusing on seven core technologies including radiation resistant computing chips, space new energy, advanced payloads, efficient thermal control, space computing cloud platform, inter satellite laser networking, and in orbit intelligent services. It aims to create a full chain technology matrix from core components, payload platforms, constellation networking to computing services, and assist the Yangtze River Delta in building a global space new computing innovation source and industrial agglomeration area.
