He pointed out that at present, China's geographic information industry is in a critical period of transformation and development. He introduced from three aspects: the ability and conditions of China's surveying and mapping geographic information to expand overseas, the need for high-quality development of China's geographic information industry to expand overseas, and the establishment of service platforms for China's geospatial and related enterprises to expand overseas.
Among them, in terms of the ability and conditions for China's surveying and mapping geographic information to expand overseas, he stated that China is already at a leading level in the field of satellite remote sensing; The Beidou Navigation System has been globally deployed and widely applied; The scale of the geographic information industry continues to expand; Some technical theories, such as scale driven map information graph, map information theory, pan map theory, and hybrid computing paradigm of intelligent surveying and mapping, are in a parallel or leading stage. At the same time, the country has also introduced a series of policies and encouragement measures to promote the development of surveying and mapping geographic information service trade.
In May 2025, the China Geographic Information Industry Association collaborated with the Deqing County People's Government to establish a Geographic Information Innovation and Development and International Exchange Cooperation Branch in Deqing, Zhejiang Province, to build a service platform for China's geospatial and related enterprises to expand overseas. Since its establishment, the branch has actively promoted international exchanges and cooperation. It has held meetings and signed memorandums of understanding with government departments and organizations in the surveying and mapping geographic information industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (for the Middle East region), Kazakhstan (for Central Asia), and ASEAN (for Southeast Asian countries) to carry out comprehensive cooperation and industrial cooperation in surveying and mapping geographic information. At present, 15 national surveying and mapping geographic information industry organizations have signed contracts, and representative offices of industry organizations from 10 countries have settled in.
