On April 28, 2026, Chengdu Guoxing Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Guoxing Aerospace") officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau. Both sides will focus on the innovative direction of "meteorology+space computing", leverage their respective core advantages, and jointly create an intelligent meteorological service system that coordinates heaven and earth, serving the refined governance of mega cities, global disaster prevention and mitigation, and climate change response needs. In the presence of Feng Lei, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, and Dr. Lu Chuan, founder of Guoxing Aerospace, Fan Liming, Director of the Science and Technology Development Department of the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, and Wang Yabo, Executive Vice President of Guoxing Aerospace, signed the contract on behalf of both parties.
An important foundation of this strategic cooperation is that, relying on the space computing power of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation's world's first space computing satellite constellation, both parties have completed the in orbit calculation work of the first batch of models such as short-term forecasting models and typhoon wind field algorithm models, successfully exploring the technical path of key meteorological model space computing. This breakthrough is expected to enhance the timeliness of intelligent processing and response of meteorological models, laying the foundation for subsequent large-scale space computing meteorological applications.
According to the agreement, both parties will also engage in in-depth cooperation in areas such as meteorological payload data, joint construction of the "Meteorological Space Computing Joint Laboratory", and global service collaboration.
This strategic cooperation will deeply combine the space computing advantages of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation with the meteorological professional capabilities of the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, promoting the paradigm shift of meteorological services from "air ground observation ground computing" to "one satellite fusion computing for air ground collaborative observation".
