On June 12th, several Mercedes Benz owners posted online that their car's infotainment system had crashed, and functions such as map navigation and music could not be used. A Mercedes Benz owner said that when he was preparing to go to work in the morning, he started the car and connected it to Bluetooth, wanting to use navigation to plan the route. However, he found that the car's machine map was directly on strike, and the central control screen showed that please insert a data carrier with map content to enable navigation. According to feedback from Mercedes Benz enthusiasts, the affected models include all MBUX2.0/3.0 system models, including C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, and EQ series.
Some car owners also reported receiving a fault message notification from Mercedes Benz, stating that due to a temporary malfunction in the Mercedes me backend, multiple functions such as navigation and CARPLAY cannot be used, or similar navigation functions cannot be displayed or there are no navigation icons. Our Mercedes Benz manufacturer is urgently repairing the issue and expects to resume use by noon today (June 12th).
In addition, a netizen who claimed to be an Aston Martin engineer, @ JohnFuHD, posted that the cause of the malfunction may be that on the evening of June 11th, when Mercedes Benz China collectively pushed OTA updates to all car models' infotainment systems, the license for the navigation/map built-in in the infotainment system was mistakenly deleted. Some car models may have also removed the licenses for CarPlay and CarLife - domestic Android Auto, resulting in all models equipped with Mbux 3.0 (the touchscreen model shown in the picture) losing their maps. At present, Mercedes Benz has not provided a specific cause and solution for the malfunction, and further information will be subject to official confirmation.
