On the evening of May 7th, Xiaomi Auto issued an official response and apologized twice regarding two controversies recently sparked by the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra model - changes to the unlocking conditions for the "ranking mode" and unclear expression of the carbon fiber dual air duct front hood function.
Previously, in the updated version of Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, the "ranking mode" function added unlocking conditions, which caused dissatisfaction among some users. Some users have provided feedback that the new unlocking conditions restrict the free use of vehicle performance, which is not in line with their expectations when purchasing the car. Xiaomi Auto responded by stating that after receiving feedback, Xiaomi has temporarily suspended the release of this version and will immediately proceed with the development and testing of the new version, which is expected to take 4 to 8 weeks. Xiaomi explained that the original intention of this feature adjustment was to enhance driving safety, but acknowledged that user opinions were not fully solicited and communication explanations were insufficient during the decision-making process.
Meanwhile, the carbon fiber dual air duct front hood of Xiaomi SU7 Ultra has also been controversial. Some car owners have questioned the difference between its actual function and promotion, believing that the component is only for exterior decoration and does not achieve the expected airflow and heat dissipation effect. Xiaomi Auto responded by stating that the front hood does have some airflow export and auxiliary front cabin cooling functions, but admitted that the previous information expression was not clear enough.
In fact, this is not the first time Xiaomi has responded and apologized quickly to user feedback. On March 29 of this year, a user suspected of being a ByteDance executive complained about the test drive experience of Xiaomi SU7 Ultra on the WeChat group, saying that after the test drive, the shuttle bus was temporarily canceled, and he was forced to walk 300 meters back to the parking lot, thinking that "service details hurt people". Just 2 hours later, Lei Jun personally apologized and stated that he would improve immediately.
