Founder of Insta360, Liu Jingkang: Definitely not making AI smart glasses

In April of this year, domestic media reported that Insta360 is secretly developing AI smart glasses, positioned as "Ray Ban Meta class multimodal AI smart glasses", integrating functions such as image capture, voice interaction, and health monitoring.

The goal is to solve the pain points of first person perspective shooting in sports scenes and make up for the limitations of traditional panoramic cameras through lightweight design (such as the technology accumulation of 39g GO 3S).

Since then, there has been no further news about the development of AI smart glasses by Yingshi Insta360. In June of this year, Liu Jingkang, founder of Insta360, was asked in an interview if he would make smart glasses. Liu Jingkang responded as follows:

"Glasses may be a big opportunity, or even an opportunity to subvert the Internet, but it is not our opportunity. Mobile phone manufacturers are more suitable for this task, such as having glasses adjust the app on the phone to order takeout or complete other services. It may become a gateway to meet demand and determine the backend traffic distribution. Of course, we definitely won't make AI smart glasses. ”

Liu Jingkang believes that mobile phone manufacturers are more suitable for making AI smart glasses. Considering that the smartphone manufacturer, Meizu, has already come to an end, Xiaomi may also launch its own brand of smart glasses at the end of this month. Liu Jingkang's statement seems very reasonable.
