According to "Cloud Insight", Ideal Auto has recently made organizational restructuring of its autonomous driving department. Split it into 11 secondary departments. Before the adjustment, the department had three core R&D teams, all of whom were senior directors, but all of them resigned this year to start their own businesses.
In this adjustment, the model algorithm team has been split into basic model, VLA model, and model engineering. Mass production research and development is divided into mass production delivery, software development, and proactive safety. The data closed-loop team is divided into data platform and data annotation. The two secondary departments of planning management and AI evaluation operation will continue to be retained. In addition, a new Innovation Business Department has been added, responsible for external technology cooperation and pre research, overseas development, etc. These 11 second level departments all report to Lang Xianpeng, Senior Vice President of Ideal Autonomous Driving Research and Development, and the new leaders are mostly promoted from the original third level leaders.
Lang Xianpeng stated in an internal letter that this architecture adjustment aims to achieve technological breakthroughs and product implementation at a faster speed and higher quality, promoting the evolution of autonomous driving organizations towards AI organizations. Meanwhile, Ideal Auto announced the cancellation of large-scale 'closed development'. Although this development method has been effective before, there are also problems such as multi departmental management caused by cross departmental use of personnel and inconvenience caused by long-term long-distance travel.
