Hong Kong Financial Secretary: As of the end of September, 17 pilot projects for low altitude economic regulation sandbox have been implemented

On October 9th, Hong Kong Deputy Financial Secretary Wong Wai lun announced in his speech at the "International Low Altitude Economy Summit" at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University that 38 pilot projects for the low altitude economy regulatory sandbox were announced and approved in March this year. As of the end of September, 17 projects have been implemented, and an additional 11 projects will be promoted in October. Huang Weilun stated that a dedicated spectrum for low altitude economic communication should be launched by the end of this year. At the beginning of next year, an advanced version of the low altitude economy "Regulatory Sandbox X" pilot project will be launched, hoping to cover more complex matters, such as cross-border routes between Hong Kong and certain suitable destinations in mainland China, initially focusing on cargo transportation. As for unmanned aerial vehicles that can carry passengers weighing over 150 kilograms, if the Director of Civil Aviation deems it appropriate, individual approval can be granted and testing can begin. An action plan will also be launched next year.
