On August 4th, it was reported that Geely Holding Group recently conducted a major integration of its internal intelligent driving companies and teams. The Jike Intelligent Driving Team, Geely Research Institute, and Megvii's intelligent driving brand "Maichi Zhixing" will merge into Chongqing Qianli Intelligent Driving. Chongqing Qianli Intelligent Driving was established on June 27th this year as a joint venture between Qianli Technology, Geely, and Megvii. Among them, Chongqing Jianghe Qixing, Geely, and Megvii each hold 30% of the shares, while Lotus holds 5%. Wang Jun (former president of Huawei Automotive BU, now co president of Qianli Technology) serves as the legal representative. At present, the leaders of the three parties are discussing the integration plan, and a conclusion will be reached by the end of August.
This integration involves over 3000 people, and after the merger is completed, Geely will only retain one intelligent driving team. The Jike team consists of approximately 1500 people, the Geely Research Institute has 1000 people, and the Maichi team has approximately 500 people. The transfer deadline is set to be completed before August 15th, and the overall business responsibilities will remain stable by the end of the year. In March of this year, Geely confirmed the use of the "Thousand Mile Vast" intelligent driving solution (divided into different levels H1-H9) throughout the entire system, covering all brand models. The establishment of Qianli Intelligent Driving is a practical measure of the unified plan. This intelligent driving integration is a crucial step after the integration of front-end and back-end resources such as procurement supply chain, intelligent cockpit, and vehicle platform, marking Geely's shift from strategic expansion to deepening strategic integration.
Recently, it was reported that the Extreme Krypton Intelligent Driving Team (ZID) has been integrated into Qianli Technology, and employees of the Smart Intelligent Driving Team can choose to transfer to Qianli Technology, Geely Research Institute, etc., while Lotus is temporarily not integrated. The number of personnel directly affected by this adjustment includes about 1300 employees from Jike and about 100 employees from Smart. The work location and salary will remain unchanged; Jike was announced at the all staff meeting on July 30th to directly sign with Qianli Technology without the need for an interview.
