On June 30th, Hu Chengchen, Chief Expert and Assistant Vice President of NIO Technology Planning, announced his resignation on Weibo. He wrote, "I have graduated. Thank you all for the recorded videos and graduation ceremony you have created for me. 1351 days, thank you for this unique journey." Hu Chengchen said that it is fortunate to be able to travel alongside a group of passionate and intelligent companions in the era when intelligent electric vehicles are flourishing. He also spoke to Li Bin Mark、 Colleagues and partners expressed their gratitude.

Hu Chengchen joined NIO in 2021 as the Chief Technology Planning Expert and Assistant Vice President, leading the full stack technology layout strategy, covering the collaborative development of key modules such as intelligent hardware, large models, and digital architecture. Before joining NIO, he had a strong background in interdisciplinary academia and industry: he was the head, professor, and doctoral supervisor of the Department of Computer Science at Xi'an Jiaotong University, as well as the director and chief engineer of the Xilinx Asia Pacific Laboratory.

NIO is recruiting Hu Chengchen with the aim of strengthening its research and development capabilities in key areas such as chip technology. At that time, NIO had the intention to develop its own autonomous driving chips, and Hu Chengchen's rich experience in chip front-end design and other aspects was an extremely valuable asset for NIO. His joining was once seen by the outside world as an important help for NIO to accelerate the implementation of its self-developed autonomous driving chip strategic plan. However, it was recently reported that NIO plans to introduce strategic investors for its chip related business, and NIO's self-developed chip team will become an independent project entity in the future. I wonder if Hu Chengchen's resignation is related to this matter.
