On the afternoon of May 22nd, at the 2025 Global Spatio Temporal Intelligence Conference (WGDC25) Cultural Tourism and VR Large Space Forum, Shi Guangming, Deputy Director of Pengcheng Laboratory and Professor of the School of Artificial Intelligence at Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology, gave a keynote speech on "Intelligent Semantic Interaction - Communication Bridge between Virtual and Real World". He pointed out that the metaverse is a typical virtual world and digitally encoded world. Simply put, academic understanding of the real world and the virtual world, where the virtual world simulates the real world to drive changes in the real world, is faster than directly creating effects in the real world, requiring the use of intelligent technology, network technology, digital technology, and so on.
He introduced the six major technologies of the metaverse, namely blockchain technology, artificial intelligence technology, interaction technology, network and computing, electronic gaming technology, and Internet of Things technology. Among them, in terms of artificial intelligence, computer vision, machine learning, intelligent speech and other artificial intelligence technologies are utilized to enhance immersive experiences. The maturity of digital twin technology determines the integrity that the metaverse can support in virtual real mapping and virtual real interaction, and the metaverse provides new scenarios for the development of digital twin technology. In short, artificial intelligence is the core supporting technology of the metaverse.
