On the morning of May 22nd, at the Map and Location Services Forum of the 2025 Global Spatio Temporal Intelligence Conference (WGDC25), Zhong Xian, Strategic Customer Service Director of Tomtom China, gave a keynote speech titled "Intelligent Global New Coordinates: TOMTOM Orbis Maps Collaborates with Industry Partners to Create the Future", sharing the progress of Orbis and how Orbis maps can support rapid growth based on AI enabled platforms.

She pointed out that TOMTOM's Orbis map gathers global forces to jointly draw. At the end of 2022, TOMTOM, Microsoft, Amazon, and Mate jointly initiated the establishment of the Map Foundation, with over 26 national companies joining, including Hyundai, Volkswagen, UBer, and others, and the number is constantly increasing.

Meanwhile, she stated that TOMTOM Orbis Maps has launched an AI powered platform. Utilize AI intelligence to maximize the combination of open and proprietary elements, and achieve automatic detection of over 95% of changes. The AI enabled platform will also conduct strict quality and data range checks, automatic incremental updates, allowing users to receive real-time automatic changes in the world. In terms of data collection, TOMTOM's AI platform is trained to recognize road signs, which are automatically recognized and captured in the data. The AI platform can be trained to automatically extract lane trajectory data from SDO data, and then generate intersection lane information, as well as perform traffic diversion and merging processing.

In addition, TOMTOM and Microsoft have jointly designed and developed an intelligent agent called TOMTOM AI, which is a voice supported artificial intelligence that can shift the user interface from traditional touch screens to natural language, allowing drivers to focus more on the steering wheel and observing the road.

At present, TOMTOM's real-time traffic data service covers 84 countries and regions worldwide, refreshing data every 30 seconds. There are 600 million connected devices worldwide providing real-time updates to their data. One out of every five cars running on the road is using TOMTOM's real-time traffic data.
