On May 22nd, Wang Yuecheng, partner of Taibo Think Tank and chief analyst of aerospace, released the "Global and Chinese Low Altitude Economy Panorama Deep Research Report" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") at the 2025 Global Spatio Temporal Intelligence Conference (WGDC2025) - Low Altitude Economy Forum.
The report points out that from the perspective of global competition, the three pillars of low altitude economy are drones, general aviation eVTOL。 Among them, the concept of eVTOL has been climbing rapidly since 2023, with a strong trend.
Taibo Think Tank predicts that the market size of China's low altitude economy industry is expected to achieve significant growth, from 530 billion yuan in 2023 to 680 billion yuan in 2025, and will exceed 1 trillion yuan in 2028.
From the trend of commercialization, a large number of enterprises have emerged in various fields of the upstream, midstream, and downstream of the industrial chain. Overall, these companies are still in the early stages of exploration. In addition, due to the continuous improvement of airworthiness certifications such as eVTOL, the maturity of the entire industry chain is also in a relatively early stage.
The report shows that there will be a total of 2 billion yuan level financing in the low altitude economy sector in 2024, which has become an important track for multiple investment institutions. At present, the proportion of Series A is nearly half (48%), while the proportion of Series B is relatively lower (26%). Among them, the number of enterprises in Shanghai and Guangdong accounts for a relatively large proportion.
From the perspective of demand levels in the field of drones, before the emergence of low altitude economy, surveying and mapping, geographic information, and agriculture had a relatively large proportion in the production sector. With the popularity of eVTOL and flying cars, the demand in the transportation sector will gradually increase.
