WGDC2025 | Jiang Chang: Baidu Maps launches ground to air integrated intelligent base, serving the G-end and B-end markets in the low altitude field

Taibo Network 23 May 2025 08:47

On May 22nd, Jiang Chang, the technical architect of Baidu Maps, shared the company's latest progress in the three-dimensional space-time field, namely the ground air integrated intelligent base and its product "Baidu Earth DuEarth", at the 2025 Global Spatio Temporal Intelligence Conference (WGDC2025) - Low altitude Economic Forum.

It is reported that this base also supports the construction of real-life 3D China. On the one hand, it relies on feedback from previous landing scenarios such as intelligent networking, low altitude economy, parking, water conservancy, water affairs, and highways. On the other hand, it ensures usability and ease of use on the basis of aesthetics, and is compatible with the engine capabilities of past 2D maps, turning the data of 3D digital twins into big models.

On this basis, the data layer of "Baidu Earth DuEarth" introduces distinctive map data, such as 360 city lane level high-definition data, real-time data on national roads, and dynamic and static data of 2.8 million parking lots nationwide. In addition, new models and engines (including time and space engines) are added.

Jiang Chang pointed out that currently Baidu Maps' services in the low altitude field cover the annotation of low altitude economic integration no fly zones, real-time path planning, low altitude route management, and low altitude control strategies. The target customers are divided into two directions: one is to meet the government's needs for low altitude regulation and provide a foundation for flight regulation; the other is to provide integrated ground and air navigation services for industry manufacturers, drone manufacturers, and flying car companies.
