WGDC2025 | Yu Shuaibing: VR/AR technology has enormous potential for application in the e-commerce field, and the virtual experience economy is redefining the concept of "people goods yard"

On May 22nd, at the Cultural Tourism and VR Large Space Forum of the 2025 Global Spatio Temporal Intelligence Conference (WGDC25), Yu Shuaibing, founder of Hangzhou Zhizhou Leap Enterprise Management Consulting, delivered a keynote speech on "Virtual Experience Economy and E-commerce Platform Marketing Strategy".

Yu Shuaibing pointed out that VR is no longer a geek toy in the laboratory, but a key to content e-commerce shifting from "traffic thinking" to "experience thinking". The virtual experience economy is redefining the concept of "human goods yard".

He stated that in the e-commerce field, the potential for the application of VR and AR technologies is still enormous, and AR/VR technology has shown significant advantages in enhancing user shopping experience, increasing user stickiness, and improving conversion rates.

It is reported that Generation Z has an acceptance rate of 89% for virtual experiences, with 63% willing to pay a premium for virtual goods. Tiktok e-commerce data shows that the conversion rate of goods using VR technology is 40% higher than traditional video, and the return rate is 25% lower.

In his view, the development of technology applications in 2025 is still rapidly iterating. The penetration rate of VR devices is expected to exceed 25%, and 5G+edge computing will reduce the VR content loading delay to less than 20ms. At present, some e-commerce platforms have connected the entire VR live streaming chain, and creators can achieve panoramic live streaming using mobile phones and fisheye lenses. The reduction of technical barriers lays the foundation for large-scale applications.
